NHL hockey is the highest league in the world concerning ice hockey. The national hockey league has in all 30 teams in the United States of America and Canada. The winning team of the league is awarded with the Stanley cup. The national hockey league was founded in the year 1917. There were some problems between the national hockey association and the owner Mr. Edward Livingstone. This resulted in the formation of the national hockey league after getting rid of Edward Livingstone.

Ice hockey is often called as simple hockey in the United States of America and Canada. It is a team sport that is played on ice. It is a major sport in these countries and is represented at the highest level by the national hockey league. Six of the total thirty franchises of the national hockey league are present in Canada, while the rest are in the United States of America. In spite of this, the Canadian players are more in number as compared to the players of the United States of America. From the total number of players present in the league, thirty percent are non-North Americans. The popularity of the sport is more in the Midwest, northeast and the Alaskan regions of the United States of America. This results in the decreased viewer ship of the game on television.

With the support of the national hockey league, the ace bailey children’s foundation has developed a grass root level youth hockey enhancement program. The national hockey league with the help of the ace bailey foundation, held many charitable programs by way of ice hockey games. It has developed a program called GOT skills for the youth players. The program tests the skills of the youth players to the ultimate levels.
