NHL TELEVISION BROADCAST

Television Channels for NHL:

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation broadcasts the National Hockey Games in Canada on a nationwide scale in addition to The Sports Network. Apart from these, numerous other networks are available, which broadcast games related to hockey and other sports on a regional basis. These include the Rogers Sportsnet Games which are broadcast in French and are aired on the Reseau Des Sports (RDS). In the earlier period, RDS also was broadcast on the Radio Canada. It created huge controversy in those Canadian areas which were predominantly French speaking. The Hockey Night Canada is a program, which is mostly broadcast on weekend nights in the CBC channel. It was first aired in 1952.

Miscellaneous:

In the United States, the National Hockey Games are mostly broadcast on the channel “Versus” which was previously known as the “OLN” and the “Outdoor Life Network”. In addition, the National Broadcasting Corporation also airs the hockey games related to the National Hockey League. Previously, the hockey games were aired on the American Broadcasting Corporation. NBC has entered into an agreement related to revenue sharing with the National Hockey League. “Verses” has fewer subscribers as compared to ESPN.

Hockey Broadcasting:

The official broadcaster for the National Hockey League is the XM Satellite Radio. From the month of September 2005 and June 2007, the televised shares of the National Hockey League were divided with Sirius Satellite Radio and XM. Outside the continent of North America, the games related to the National Hockey league are shown on NASN.
